Singularly decadent

Although the term 'bachelor pad' conjures up images of black leather furnishings and a healthy smattering of hi-tech gadgetry, Edinburgh businessman Peter Gilroy wanted to seer clear of the usual clichés after buying his garden-level flat in the city's trendy west end.

Rather than a glass coffee table, there's a chunk of Travertine marble and a shag-pile rug in the richest shades of bitter chocolate.
